New Shoes!! Part 2!..... Week 3 is on hold

Well I attempted to do W3D2 yesterday in my new shoes and well honestly it sucked. My ankle was not very happy and I ended up stopping just after the first run. My ankle couldn't take it. So since I took off today I went back to the store and swapped them for another new pair :) These are Saucony Trigon 4.
They told me I was neutral but my ankle is week (which I knew) so I need a bit more support then the asics were giving me.
They also looked at my old Nike's. They had a stiff side support which was causing my foot to roll in too much. Hence the knee pain I had! I learned so much when I was there. Kinda made me wish I went in high school to be fitted in proper shoes. My ankle may not be so weak if I did.
I attempted to get on the treadmill this afternoon but failed miserably. I knew I was sick but I thought it was just a cold or alergies but apparently it wasn't. My entire body ached and it wasn't from exercise.
I finally gave in and made an appointment with my doctor. Turns out I'm severly dehydrated and have a bad ear infection as well as sinus infection. My tonsils are practically touching. Oh how fun :( So I'm told to rest for a few days which means Week 3 is put on hold until sunday. I guess I'm repeating it.

New Shoes!

Yay! I got fitted today at the local running store running, etc. I have a pair of asics now. They are sooo comfortable. I did a quick run around our neighborhood when I took the dog out and I'm not running in concrete shoes anymore :)

Wow I just said a quick run with the dog, never thought I would say such a think LOL.

W3D1 !!!

This workout was a bit different. Instead of the treadmill, Larry, Annalisa and I went down to the boardwalk and enjoyed the beautiful scenery while we ran. Larry actually did some roller blading and I ran with the jogging stroller. We did a 5 min walk with larry and the first jog interval then when I did the first walk he took off down the boardwalk. The 90 seconds of jog was fine. I felt great afterwards but when I had to do the 3 minute jog, HOLY COW! I so wanted to quit. Annalisa however was enjoying the speed so I kept chugging away. We got about a mile down the board walk when we turned around to do the 2nd set of the 90sec/90sec/3 min/3min. That's when I realized that it was a slight incline INTO the wind.

Honestly the only way I got thru this set was because of Shelley :) The fact that she was able to do this program with 2 kids in a stroller in 100+ weather. Hell I can do this with annalisa. She's such an inspiration to me :)

Once we finished and larry caught up to us we walked back to the car to head back home. I enjoyed this so much I hope to do this every sunday in good weather :)

W2D3

My iTunes FINALLY worked during this workout and it went great! I actually completely lost track of time and did a jog interval for a bit longer but it felt great. Being at the Y though on friday made me want to get out in the nice weather on Sunday. There was a dirty old man on the treadmills who just loved to stare at all the women's breasts... Thank G-d I was behind him but still it was just wrong.

W2 D2

today was W2D2...
It went pretty well again. I up'd my speed on the last interval just to give it my all. The only bad thing (well 2 actually) is that my darn itunes is still F-d up!!! I checked it last night before I went to sleep and it was fine. This morning I put my headphones on hit the iTunes button and it was EMPTY!!!! UGH!!!!!! I guess I'm heading to the cingular store something this week.

The second thing is I have to get new shoes. I'm going this weekend to Running, etc. where they fit you to a shoe. Now that the intevals are longer I can tell the shoes suck even more!

Spring Sprint.

I'm trying to decide if I want to enter the Spring Sprint 5K that my Y is holding the weekend of Easter. I can't register until tonight when I get paid but I keep going back and forth. Am I really ready to commit to a race? I'm actually nervous. I didn't think I would be but I am...

I guess I'll post tomorrow and let you know my decision..

W2 D1

I did pretty good yesterday with the W2 D1 workout. I pushed myself even though my mp3 player decided it didn't want to work. I think I must funneled my anger for that into my workout. The 90 seconds went by quick and the 2 min even quicker. I actually felt pretty good until last night when I finally laid down on the couch to relax. The dog had to go out so I jumped up and boy oh boy did my legs yell at me for that.

Tomorrow is my W2 D2 workout and YES! my mp3 player works again!!!

W1 D3

I didn't get to do the workout yesterday but I went first thing this morning. Boy was the Y packed! I got one of the last treadmills but the location was actually really good. I watched a gentleman do yoga while I ran. It actually relaxed me to watch. As for the workout, the first interval was pretty good however the second one kicked my butt. I'm not sure if my pace was wrong or what but boy oh boy did it hurt. On to the third and beyond it was actually great! I felt so good I wanted to keep on going.

Since I worked out today I can't do my next workout tomorrow so Monday morning Annalisa is going to school early. That way I can workout before work again. I'm actually looking forward to the increase Jog time :)

W1D2...

Week 1 day 2....

I am so proud of myself. I actually got out of bed and got going. Annalisa was a doll and got ready for me with enough time to spare. The workout was actually pretty good. I paced myself better this time and I felt really good at the end.

Friday is my next day!

Workout Schedule

Sunday - Run

Monday - Rest/Yoga

Tuesday - Rest

Wednesday - Run

Thursday - Rest/Yoga

Friday - Run

Saturday - Rest

This schedule works great right now. I can't do anything on Tuesdays & Saturdays unless more hours are added to the day. I'll adjust it as needed for here on out :)

Rest day..

Ahhhhh.... yoga has never felt so good. I used the rest day yesterday to stretch out my muscles and it just put me in a trance LOL. I'm anxious to do day 2 which will be tomorrow.

I've told my husband, daughter, and friends that I started this program. My friends are excited for me. My daughter thinks it's great that mommy is going to the gym. The husband on the other hand thinks it's just a phase. He jokes about it, says he's not going to any 5K's to cheer me on etc. It made me a little sad but it also made me want to show him up.

Week 1 Day 1

Well I did it. I started the C25K program. C25K is short for "Couch-to-5K" and is a training plan to get you up to a level where you can run 5K (3 miles) after 9 weeks. They layout out each workout that you do. Here's some information about it. Couch-to-5K

Today was Week 1 Day and I did pretty well. My asthma is finally under control and I got the ok from my doctor to go for it :) I did learn that my Nike's are horrible shoes to run in. I'm going to try and stick it out for another week then buy a good pair of running shoes. I believe there is a running store around the tidewater area.

I hope this blog helps inspire more people out there as well as keep myself accountable :)
